Benissa

Benissa is 73 kilometres from the city of Alicante. It is an attractive town where the sea and the mountains come together to create stunning landscapes.

It has 4 kilometres of coastline with some of the Costa Blanca's most beautiful #coves. Its crystal clear waters are the perfect setting for water sports such as scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. Hiking is another activity available here. The town is surrounded by mountains such as those of Bèrnia, ideal for walking routes.

Make sure you sample the local gastronomy in Benissa, with exquisite rice dishes and cured meats. Also not to be missed is its old town, which has a decidedly medieval character: it has buildings like the 15th century Constitución Market; Renaissance palace houses; La Marina neo-Gothic cathedral; and Calle Desamparados street, full of stately houses with wrought iron grilles.In April, Benissa holds its Local Fiestas in honour of the patron saint, Purísima Xiqueta, while June sees the Moors and Christians celebrations.
